The southernmost section of Sarasota County starts at the spot where the Tamiami Trail bends towards the east and into the Everglades. Gulf View Estates is part of South Venice, but it is very close to Manasota and Englewood. Development of this community dates back to the mid-1980s, which means that you can still find nice Florida ranch-style homes, many of them remodeled. The northern section of Gulf View Estates offers more recently built models that feature Mediterranean revival design. The entrance to the community makes it look like a country club; it is filled with fountains, ponds, and elaborate landscaping.

A great portion of Gulf View Estates has been set aside as nature preserves maintained with funds collected from homeowners association fees, which are extremely reasonable. With a few lakes and many green spaces around the neighborhood, it is not difficult to find properties with lake and preserve views. Typical floor plans offer two to three bedrooms and two full bathrooms; the coziest homes feature living spaces of at least 1,600 square feet, and the lots are larger than the average around Sarasota County, thus making them ideal for families with children. Quite a few homes have swimming pools.

Homeowners who enjoy the outdoors will enjoy living almost next door to pine scrub preserves, tranquil beaches, and state parks. The two larger lakes in Gulf View Estates attract many birds, and there are numerous fishing spots nearby. The closest Publix supermarket is located at the Venice Village Shoppes, which are just a few minutes north of the gate.

With prices starting as low as $255K for a two-bedroom home built on an oversize lot, listings in Gulf View Estates do not last very long on the market. This is a neighborhood you will definitely want to keep on your watch list.
